So after he does that and gets zero results what does he do?...
I searched google and found this...
The Helper spring is used to prevent the Main spring from becoming loose in the spring seat when the wheel is at full droop. The Helper spring unlike the Tender spring, has very little spring rate and therefore, has no effect on the suspension characteristics of the vehicles. Up to 50mm of spring-to-perch gap can be covered with the use of a Helper spring.

Pretty much to keep the main springs from falling out of place. My GC springs fall out of place everytime I lift the car up on a jack. It's a paing cuz I have to make sure they're lined up right again the upper mount before I fully lower the car.
