Default WARNING... Do not buy Nokya bulbs

THESE BULBS ******* SUCK... they will destroy your headlight wiring.
These Bulbs are 90/100 W. and i believe they pull more than 10amps. ive blown a couple of fuses b4.

Ok guys ive had my set of nokya's for 2 months. after about 2 weeks i noticed my low beams sucked more and more everyday. now ive been driving around with my high beams on with my housings pointed down more. because my low beams suck soo bad that i cant even see the ground i just see my foglights on

I did a test on my socket with a multi meter.
HI beam = 12.3 V
low beam = 9.1V
Ground= 0V

The Worst part of all of this.... is that i purchased these bulbs from a local honda dealer

Did he touch the glass with his fingers at all? That could of been it. But they could also have sucked lol.

Thats generally what happens w/ higher wattage bulbs.
If you purchased them from a dealership, doenst that make them responsible for damaging your harness? Shouldnt it be free replacement?

You need to buy a booster kit to make those work.

PM E-Brake or Handbrake his friend sells them and he can explain it more. Ill tell him about this thread so he could give his 2 cents when he gets on.

there is no details on the bulbs about a booster kit. and why would honda sell something that will destroy your wiring harness?

The same reason that they overcharge on all parts and service...its a dealership. Theyre just in it for the money dude...Im sure the owners manual even has something about what wattage to use, so you could shove that in their faces when you demand they pay for the harness replacement. Them being a dealership, they should know better than to sell things like that to the unsuspecting public.

Heres a website about the booster kit i was talking about. My E-Brake's friend makes them. I have it on my car and its way better then anything i had before. No HID's but damn good though.

Hell if i know, i dont know the guy personally. I go through e-brake (who i do know) and all i got was the booster from him.

Why are HID kits illegal in the states? I never heard of that. Or do you mean just illegal to sell? Either way why is that? Just wondering.

To fully utilize the 90/100 watt bulbs you'll need to upgrade your existing headlight wiring harness.

Without the upgrade, you'll only stress your OEM harness and eventually cause the harness to melt/malfunction.

But on the other subject of the bulbs blowing prematurely, I'm not sure.

Depending on the quality of these Nokya bulbs, the results will vary.

I suggest going with Phillips 90/100 watt bulbs as they are a world renown company--but not without upgrading your existing headlight harness.

HID are becoming very affordable, you can get a conversion kit for $250 shipped. If that's still too pricey, and you want to stay halogen go with Silverstars.

Yeah, if you were to buy higher wattage plugs and wires, they should have worked fine. But I don't know for sure. Sucks that happened though.

As far as the HID kits being illegal, I did hear that one companies was because it was to bright but I haven't heard anything about ALL of them being illegal.

This is too quick to jump to conclusions here. One bad experience and he is quick to say they suck. If you look on the side of the box, it says "Nokya wiring harness recommended" I have the H7 arctic whites on my car and they are fine. I have had the bulbs on my GTI since May 2004 and no burn outs or harness melting. Im defending Nokya because i sell these bulbs on ebay and have had nothing but positive feedback. I did have one customer return a set because the low beam didnt work but Nokya gladly sent him a replacement for free unlike most other companies.

BTW, HID kits are illegal to sell in the U.S. for highway use. Reason i believe is mainly because people install the kits in OEM headlamps and blind people creating safety hazards

Ok, i used these bulbs and now my thing is melted , is there anyway i could replace it??? I went back to stock, but sometimes the drivers headlight doesn't come on so i have to pop my hood and move it a little till it comes one =T.

Any advice??? can i just buy a new harness and replace it? its just one side (drivers side) and if so whats the product #/sku so i could pick one up at my stealership.

oh and btw, i know a person whos car caught on fire because of this o_O (started in the engine bay)

Youre gonna want to get a new harness, bad connections. A friend of mine with a Del Sol bought one from autozone for about $4 (i know, i know). Thicker gauge wire than wimpy stock. Worked really well for the price. Check it out.
