i have a 97 civic ex auto. I plan to switch to manual in the near future.. but for now i want to enjoy auto. I'm planning on leaving the motor stock until i get a new motor/tranny... i want to boost maybe 5-6 psi. i'll probably get an edelbrock intake manifold. is 5-6 psi a good daily drive? or is it too much? i'm open to suggestions. and like i said.. i'm gonna do turbo on this while it's auto and once i become manual.. i'll do the pistons and cams and stuff. thx for the help in advance.

Get the manual swap done first. It will save your rep and some headaches.

ever consider a homemade turbo set-up. just piece together a turbo kit and save a whole lot of money and switch to obd1 to tune and there you go. i have done so many homemade setups lately i almost swore off kits. and psi wise it doesn't matter 5,6,7,8~10 psi if tuned right there all in the realm of streetable. if you have close friends (especially DSM'ers) that have parts there willing to get rid of you can almost piece together a decent setup for almost free. just a thought to mill over.

yea, i'm pretty much aware of that. i'm looking to piece together a turbo kit... they're usually better that way. what's safe for auto tho? and i'm not woried about my rep.. i have a good rep. i work at circuit as an installer. i know a lot of people... and a lot of people know me. and i'm not tryin to impress anybody. just have a fun daily driver for now. thx a lot for the advice.. uppin for some more

Still, a manual turbo it going to be exponetially more fun turbo'd as a DD.

5-6 lbs is fine. Maybee look into using a tranny cooler, people recomend them but I'm not sure it its necessary. Depending on what turbo you use there can be spool time differences between the auto and the 5spd so plan for that. I don't see a point in the eldelbrock IM when you won't be putting 200 hp to the wheels, that $$ could be better spent.

If your serious about doing the auto to manual, why not do it now. It just makes more sense to me. Boosting your auto Y8 will be fine for some time but depends how you really treat it. Id keep it around 5-6psi just to keep it safe mostly for the tranny.
