wanted to share cool idea picked up at the races
i was walking the staging lanes at a local import drag event and notice what i though is a pretty cool idea.
a guy had his whole shifter assembly raised up on these stilts like things to have the shifter assembly 3-4 inches to the right of the center of the steering wheel. I thought it was pretty cool and will eventually do it in my car (when it's fast ) just wanted to share i know it may be old but i thought it was cool
don't understand a word i just said? heres a diagram
excuse my artistic ability

cool...when ur finished doing it to your car be sure to post a HOW TO post of how to do this....looks like a cool idea to have when ur at the track...

are you sure he did it on purpose? because on most of the H-series swap the shifter sits high. This is because they have a cable linkage rather than the straight metal tube design that B and D series have.

positive, it was welded metal legs that the hole assembly sits on to have it closer to the steering wheel

Wouldn't that make it "a hell of a long throw" shifter?
Unless the pivot ball is remounted higher, then he hacked up the floor?

it wasnt only the shifter "shaft" part, the pivot was up there too and i belive the the shiter was a short shifter, yes i know i can't speak english properly
BTW it was 2 flexible cables that connected the tranny to the shifter going through the fire wall, and into the engine bay, if that helps

think of the difference from a short shifter to a regular shifter.....ok now multiply that by 9,000......weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

The EP3 Si's shifter is on the dash- I think that was the best thing about the car when I test drove it. As for raising one up like that by welding or whatever..

why do people think that shifting a normal stock shifter is so hard. Everyone needs "short shifters" or some sort of contraption to "shift faster"...why not simply learn how to SHIFT fast using the shifter honda provided you with?!?!?!
