Want to get your opinions on what to do
I have a 2000 Civic Si that I want to do wone of two things to. Either boost her again on my old sleeved b16 or use the GSR block I have, punch it out to 2.0l and run 12.5:1 compression. Reason I ask for opinion is because I go to school 30 miles from my house and it would be driven there a lot as opposed to my beater. If it were boosted it would run 14psi on the street, and both would be tuned by Neptune. WHich IYHO is better for better daily driving with forged internals? Which IYHO has the fewest issues?

go for the 2.0L's...turbo isnt realiable i mean 30 miles back and forth...man...your car is bound to go wrong somewhere...go all motor...its still not as reliable as your stock b16 but its better than boosting it...

If built and tuned correctly, both setups should be reasonably reliable and daily-drivable. There are advantages and disadvantages to each, so it really depends heavily upon personal preference.

Right, I am aware of that. I mean in all both will end up costing the same amount. Actually the turbo set-up will cost less if my numbers are right. I mean I loved the boost before but poor machine work ended my motors life early. However a 200+whp NA motor would be pretty damn rad as well.

actually he stated poor machining work did. Turbo's dont cut engine life, HP does. If you get a good tune and reinforce your internals with a turbo your just as reliable as if you went the NA route. The only reason NA seems reliable is because you dont see NA folks running b16's with +200 whp without reinforcing the internals.
I'd challenge any of you guys to find concrete proof that the turbo, not the HP will cause engine failure or cut the engine life.
Why dont you just run it at a lower boost? I understand that your running forged internals but if you have the slightest bit of concern about reliablility, you should lower that boost amount. With forged internals and a moderate amount of boost you will be as reliable as stock.

Re: (cdizzle)
See, I was planning on running no more than 1 bar of boost. The machine work on my old b16 was so shitty. I had 81mm pistons but the sleeves had to of been bored to 81.5 or 82mm. You could take the pistons in the sleeves and shift them in the cylinder.

Depends on the tranny your running too. If he's got a Hype R, then he's boosting constantly cus those run @ 4500 rpm @ 70 mph.
But ya, just boost it. It's cheaper, just as reliable if not more, if done right. Personally I'd rather run with a **** load of boost than run NA with hella high *** compression. The comments of some of the people on this thread show that they have no idea about boost
