wanna buy a hatchback

Re: wanna buy a hatchback (VTECROAR96typeR)
it depends on its condition. mileage is a big factor. look at the body and interior. see how it runs.
then go to someplace like http://www.kbb.com to check to see what they say is the private party value for that specific car. alot plays into how much it should cost.

it seems as though its in great condition, but i think the asking price of $6300 is a bit high, but only a bit.
maybe you could talk them down a couple hundred dollars, thats what i did when i got my 97 ek haha

That is overpriced. They are hoping to catch somebody either young and stupid or somebody desperate to get into a gas saver. You should offer $5K and be prepared to walk if he doesn't take it.

I'd want to see it up close, but I see a Dark Amethyst Pearl '99 DX hatchback with only 76,311 miles. It even has the optional air conditioning. (Remember '97-'99 were the only hatches in DAP too.)
It looks clean from the photos, but I'd want to see up close. I already see it has no floormats. Such close up photos and nothing to show the entire car have always been suspect to me.
Still a bit high though. They might be trying to cash in on selling an economical vehicle.

There is a lot of other stuff too, that's kinda important. Off the top of my head I know that 99-00 engine harness is one peice to the ecu while in the 96-98 is a two peice.
To the OP I'm sure you can find a deal if you shop and wait awhile. I looked for about a month but I found a 2000 Civic CX for 4100 with only about 80,000 miles on it.

If you buy a '96 CX/DX hatch and put on a '99-'00 front end and taillights it will NOT look like an EK9 Civic Type R.
There are '97-'98 Civic Type Rs too btw.
It will look like this:
A '99-'00 Civic Type R (EK9) will look like this:

Re: wanna buy a hatchback (NOFX)
I think that price is pretty high.
I know a dude who bought a 4dr civic for 11g's and it was a DX.. Now that's a dumb move..
Make sure u bring someone who kno a lot more about cars.. Cuz it looks pretty don't mean it runs pretty.
