Default Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump problem

I just recently installed my Walbro Fuel Pump. My B&M Fuel Pressure gauge is reading 60psi+ and my B&M FPR cant even crank it down...so i put back my stock fpr and it was still at the same fuel psi, i cant figure it out. Also can a dirty fuel filter cause the needle to shake all up and down very rapidly?

This is a common problem with high volume and/or pressure fuel pumps. They tend to overwork your stock FPR. B&M is just like a stock one, but you can raise the pressure only, not lower it, you are still limited by how much fuel the stock regulator flows at minimum. Your best bet is to either use a 1:1 FPR like an Aeromotive, Paxson, etc. AEM's will work as well. You can also drill a very small relief hole into the regulator http://www.theoldone.com/articles/regulator but I found that it doesn't last and you end up having problems later down the road. You're better off getting a better FPR.

Had the same problem with my Holley pump. I think they just flow to much fuel for the regulators to handle.
