walbro 255lph?
ok i'm doing a h22 swap will it hurt anything <including gas milage> to install the fuel pump now even with the rest of the stock fuel system.
<why i ask is i'm trying to narrow down a problem with my car and if this won't hurt then i'm good to swap out.>

Re: walbro 255lph? (dantastic)
A pump that flows that much fuel tends to overwhelm the stock FPR a little causing the car to run rich, so yes an adj FPR should be used (with a gauge) to set your fuel pressure to a stock setting.

I'm doing the h22 swap and i have the d15z1 motor and want to keep the FPR for this swap also that would be a waste of money if i have to buy a new one?

Don't waste your money on an FPR for that D-series if your going to swap. I'm not sure why you were told to change the regulator just because you change the pump. The pump doesn't have much effect on pressure - that's what the regulator is for! Stock regulator = stock pressure.
Even "high pressure" pumps don't make your pressure go up significantly, it just means they can continue to flow high volumes when you increase the pressure, like with a rising-rate regulator some use in turbo systems. The pressure can get high enough to make the stock pump flow decrease right when you need fuel the most!

This is incorrect. A 190 lph pump tends to not affect the pressure regulator to much and the pressure stays relatively stable but when a 255 lph pump is swapped in, it pumps considerably more volume which DOES increase pressure. Because the volume of fuel being pumped is so much greater than what the stock FPR was designed to deal with, it tends to get overwhelmed and not be able to divert the excess fuel back to the tank, so the car runs rich because of excess fuel pressure in the rail. The fuel buildup in the rail increases the pressure from the bottleneck the stock FPR creates.
