Yes they run letters too. It's a science when it comes to VTEC-H engines.

For the n00bie

Civic EX's come with 127HP SOHC VTEC D16Y8 motors. However, they are not that much faster than their 106HP SOHC non-vtec D16Y7 counterparts. If you had an auto D16Y8, you'd probably get your *** beat by everything except a Kia Rio.

If you have alot of money, you could have alot of mods. Doesnt matter the car or the motor.

I think I read somewhere that autos dyno like 10-15 HP lower than their manual counterparts. Having been on both sides and having had daily drivers of both, converting to manual may be your best mod. If it helps, my 70HP 90 TQ manual EF beat the crap out of my 115 HP 130 TQ automatic sunfire. You'd probably lose against any manual car somply because they can launch better.

I do know some fun ways to launch autos tho... Only if you like having your auto transmission feel like the springs in a clutch are shot after you're done... My sunfire is almost destroyed after only having it for a year. hahaha.
