If it's a VTEC engine and there's no CEL, it's working.

as long as there is enough oil in the motor.

OP, you probably won't feel it unless you have at least i/h/e. and VTEC on sohc motors kicks in somewhere around 5200 rpms i believe.

Check that the oil level is full. Take the cover off the airbox and give it a run to about 5500 RPM, if you want to hear that it's working.

go for a drive and step on it! i can hear when vtec engage on my y7/y8 mini me, and even before I put header and exhaust on it. it should crossover around 5200-5500 rpms, and you'll notice the tone of the engine change. 3dr gear you can really hear it in my car

Yeah, you should hear the change in engine tone and maybe even feel the little kick, especially in a light Del Sol

slowly raise the rpm while driving by easing on the gas. when you hear(feel) the engine sputtering in and out, then you know vtec is working.

Orly?
*checks weights*
...wtf, how does that work?
It's like a civic with the *** chopped off!
Where's the extra weight at?
Dem crazy Honda peoples
XP

Then again, guess it depends on the civic to compare it to, BUT THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT HERE!
^^;;

Having any luck, OP?

It's the rear of the car.

It was done that way for a reason. remember, you basicly have no roof. if you get hit, and there is no renforcement, it will fold up like a pop can after a 500lb dude stepped on it.

CEL is check engine light. If there isnt any then its most likely working right. The engines pitch should change at about 5500RPM, it should become "louder" with a kind of higher pitch.

OP -- post what year Del Sol and what engine is in it.

You MUST provide all pertinent information about your car and engine. Failure to do so may result in thread closure.
