Ok... what engine do you have in your 92 hatch...?

on a side note... have you been to that new carmike cinema there in Findlay? If you haven't, but do go... check out the phone system there. I installed it.

what motor do you have? best way is connect two wires to your vtec solenoid. one wire goes to ground and another goes to a litebulb. make enough wire to be able to place the lightbulb inside your car. when vtec engages, the bulb should lite up. if you have a sohc, you wont be able to hear or feel vtec basically

I can't hear it in first in my y8 either, but you can tell in any other gear.

Nah. there's one on the left side of the counter towards the end and two in the ticket sales island counters.

Anyway, to answer your question. A D series (SOHC vtec) engine isn't going to have a very pronounced switch over like a B series is. With a CAI you might be able to distinguish, but if it's stock you really won't be able to.

another way to do it, i know this work on dohc's not sure about sohc's, is to unplug your vtec solenoid. if you do, you motor will cut out when vtec is supposed to cross over. if it does, then your vtec is working, if not, then it isnt. can someone confirm that this method works on sohc's?

how do you wire up the vtec, the pinouts and whatnot. like which wires go to which holes in the ecu i think when the motor was installed the junkyard didnt wire it up so that might be why its working
