Default vtec wont hit

Hi guys i got a 97 ex coupe with a obd1 motor i have the jumper harness for the ecu an the distributor the only check light i have is the coolant temp sensor before i had this same swap in a eg an vtec wrked fine now is sucks ***
oiL IS UP TO THE LINE
i let the car warm up


soo can anyone help me out

try cleaning the solenoid...may have to replace it

you need more vtec oil. overnight it from japan. ask for jdm vtec oil

wont come on because of the temp light... along with knock, low oil and if its not warm... also a few other things... if u get that light to turn off and Vtec still isn't kicking.... take the solenoid off and disassemble it and make sure the screen is clean and theres no oil build up anywere. if there is oil build up... the you need to learn how to change more oil often!

well the oil level is fine and i will cheeck for the solenoid but for some stranage reason i dont knwo why the light is on could it be the jumper harness doo i need too rewire it

ok how doo i doo a continuity test an my boy hass a 99 si civic with a b20 swap an we didnt plug in hes ect plug an his vtec hits

yep, coolant temp sensor will keep your vtec solenoid from engaging.
&lt;---same issue right now.

ok i have continuity i fixed the coolant sensor now there noo check egine light but now when im driven it sounded like the vtec turn on but it bogs in high rpm wat could it be now

What was the problem with the sensor? Wiring? Because like I said, I'm having the same problem. Replaced all 3 of the temp sensors and the damn light is still on.

well i know everyone is gonna call me dumb but i had the senor for the temp connected too the vtec switch an i change them around my light went away but now the car bogggs at high rpm Hey dose ur vtec turn on Islandsi ???

Nope, because I still have that damn light.
I don't want to drive it too much because the motor's built and needs a serious tune done to it along with welding up the damn downpipe for the turbo. Stupid car is a project that's just begging to get worked on.
Somewhere I just lost the will to mess with it though.

Yeah I need to. Especially since the guy that built the engine for me has a similar setup as mine and sent me his dyno sheet the other day. Putting down a little over 460 to the ground.
