Vtec wiring from a 92 civic hb DX with a gsr obdI motor...
 
im not too sure what to type in "search" .. i tried vtec wiring.. vtec swap... just got some odd results.. could someone link me or get me started on this wiring.. they say the 92 civic dx already has "vtec" ready or something like that.. but i'll be attempting this tomorrow... Thanks

Yes, the 92 Civic's are pre-wired from the shock tower to the ECU for VTEC. There is two wires leading to A4 and D6 pinouts at the ECU.

What harness did you use for the engine? GSR or the Civic?

just plugged the civic wiring into the gsr engine harness wiring... any sites or pics on how to get this vtec wired? i'm pretty mechnically inclined.. just need a few pointers thanks

what are the total #'s of wires i need to hook up? do i really need to hook up the evap ones?... i'm on the site right now turbocx thanks! also.. what is it exactly about the 92 civics?

Three wires.

1 wire being Knock sensor to the D3 pinout
1 wire going from the IAB solenoid plug to the A17 pinout
1 wire going from the IAB solenoid to A25 or the Yel/Blk junction harness on the driver side shock tower harness.

now do i cut in and just splice from teh shocktower or distrubutor to the ecu wiring harness in the interior?

ok guys i wired it up.. i ended up hooking up evap purge power/evap purge sol/knock sensor/secondary intake sol... everything works fine but there is a CEL light there(which was there from the start) that comes on when your driving normal.. and it turns off when you restart the car... any tips on where to start hunting for that problem? Thanks vtec kicks hard!

That's right. Check the code by jumping the 2 pin connector. Get the code and tell us what it is. We will help you from there.
