VTEC wheel Bearings?
Hi guys, Im hoping you can help me out a little. Im a bit of an idiot when it comes to cars and car parts.
I own a 55 plate 1.6 VTEC Type S Civic. It just failed it's MOT and the mechanic told me that Honda Civic VTEC's use a special kind of wheels bearing. He told me he'd have to order it specially and it would cost me £110.
Is this right?

Re: VTEC wheel Bearings?
If your UK Civics are like ours, the Vtec equipped EX cars have larger brakes and different wheel bearings than the non-Vtec DX and LX cars. The Vtec has nothing to do directly with the bearings, it's part of a larger brake package that accompanies the Vtec range. When I replaced the wheel bearings in my EX, I had to order them too.
The ABS sensors on the Civics are outside the bearings, they read tone rings on the axles. I suppose if the bearing was really bad, it could wobble around enough to let the sensor miss the rings - turning on the ABS light.
