VTEC weakening out on me...
im pissed...
so, i got a mini me setup in my 95 hatch, and when i first got the car, the peeps that put the motor together forgot to take out the oil jet on the block for vtec, so it woudnt engage...
Now...about a month ago, a friend and i pulled the head off, new z6 gasket and yanked the plug, after everything was done, took it out, let it warm up and dropped it into 2nd to see if we finally had some 'tec....boy did i....it cracked so hard that all i could do was laugh hysterically. I couldnt believe it because usually sohcs have minor crossover sounds...now here i am a month later with a lame *** vtec crossover...it still pulls pretty much the same, but i want that nasty crack back, any suggestions would be appreciated...
Also, people say to check if the solenoid screen is clogged...2 questions, how do i go about doing this. and also how probable or common is it for this to be clogged? thanx a million

Re: VTEC weakening out on me... (VTiHatch)
First, you may just be getting used to the X-over.
1.) checking the solenoid: first remove the solenoid from the head ( I think that it is just too 10mm bolts) then pull the screen out of the solenoid, look for a clog and clean if neccessary.
2.) It is not that it is a common thing, but alot of times that has the potential of happening.
Very easy and takes probably about 5 minutes. Hope thats right, if there is anything that I left out guys please fill in.

Re: VTEC weakening out on me... (kyosoeg6)
just did a valve adjustment and set the intake lash to .007 and exhaust at .009...factory honda specs...after i posted, my friend yelled at me and said i was just getting used to it...i dunno, other people heard it louder a while ago too...i dont know...
i think my exhaust is too damn loud too...its a little louder than when i did the head job, maybe leaking? who knows....still pisses me off... it was really kick ***...i remember slowing down to like 40mph for no reason at all other than just throwing it into 2nd to hear vtec again i miss it!!!!
