VTEC SYSTEM MALFUNCTION???? HELP
 
I just took my car in to get the codes and this was the only code that came up p1259 vtec system circuit fault (bank 1)
what does that mean? can i still drive my car . i want to go on a road trip 3k in a week is that a good idea...can i fix this myself? (no real experience)
will my car preform badly mpg's oil consumption.... any help appreciated

The first thing I check with that code is the oil level. Low oil presure caused by low oil level is a common cause.

the oil was low when the CEL came on i put oil in to proper levels but the light check engine light is still on.... now that the oil is in should the car be fine?

Have you reset the ECU?

no i dont know what the ECU is or how to reset it????thank you ...you are being so much help...

to reset the ECU remove the "back up" fuse for like 10 seconds, or disconnect your negative battery terminal for a minute or two, OR disconnect your ECU https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

do NOT disconnect the ECU with the battery still connected.
there is a constant supply of voltage to the ECU and when removing the harness, it could easily jump to another pin on the ECU and cause serious damage. i have seen it happen before.

what about when people remove their ECU from their cars as a anti-theft device?

they risk shorting the ECU every time they remove it.

im not saying it happens every time you pull the plug on it, but you run the CHANCE of it arcing to another pin and frying the circut.

They should disconnect their battery first.
