Default Vtec Solenoid Question

I know the top part of the solenoid has a brownish- metal head part with what looks like a pin on the top, but I'm considering getting a cover from jhp, how does that piece come off or is it just a useless cover? I'm trying to understand the point of it and how it goes on/comes off

Yep, just slides right on and is held on by gravity
I've got one on mine cuz the brown didn't go well with my valve cover
XD
Try to color match if you can!
