Vtec solenoid question...
The cap thing on my Vtec solenoid has some ugly surface rust that I want to get rid of when I do the full underhood cleanup in the spring. Can someone explain to me if and how it comes apart? I've seen people mention something about a vtec solenoid filter... is there one on my y8? Is there any other kind of service I should be doing to the solenoid while it's off?
Pics, as usual. They always help me to explain what I'm talking about.

The filter is in the section where the solenoid actually connects to the head. You can just clean that filter with some brake cleaner.
The cap section, I believe is actually the solenoid machanical part itself.
Once you remove the solenoid the cap can be easily sanded and painted.

If you want to clean it you should probably just take off the whole solonoid assembly with those 3 bolts and clean it like that. I'm not sure that the cap comes off.

Re: (Cruiser G)
I was going to take the solenoid off to clean the filter anyways, I just thought it'd be easier to clean that cap if you could seperate it from the unit.
