Default Vtec solenoid gasket

I am getting ready to install a new Vtec solenoid gasket on my 00 Si. Do I need to apply any gasket sealer or similar products to this small thin gasket?

Honda Bond FTW. It's cheap, it works, and you'd be a fool not to.

That is bogus information.

Here is the VTEC solenoid gasket (Honda calls it "Spool Valve Filter Assembly") for a '99-'00 Si, because you didn'y say what car you have.

Also, to my knowledge, Honda is the only one that sells them.

NO gasket sealer of any kind. Make sure both surfaces are clean, then install the Spool valve gasket and put the solenoid on.

And why is that? It's dumb not to. You don't put Honda bond on the gasket you put it on the metal to metal surface.

the gasket is really thick... i just did it on mine.
it was $13 at honda (got a discount)
no need to use any seal. Hand tighten (25 lbs or so) it and check for leaks...

no, you don't need to use Honda bond. The gasket is already there.

Really? So no need to use it on water pump, oil pump, valve cover gasket, spark plug seals, etc etc because the seal is there? It takes 5 sec, uber cheap, and offers added protection. If you don't do it you are retarded.
