VTEC Question
I have a 98 Ek hatch with a 95 Gsr in it, Its not throwing any codes but i dont think its getting the full hit of vtec. The motor sat in a garage 2 years before i used it. I raced a Eg hatch last night and had a 2 car lead on him, he missed 3rd but once he hit vtec he blew past me. My car has a mad amount of torque but you cant really hear Vtec. I am runnin a p72. I was wonderin if that screen in the solenoid might be clogged

Re: VTEC Question (jayb98ek)
have u filled your vtec bottle lately? im sure the guy u raced with the eg hatch has a vtec bottle warmer so he had more pressure thats why he flew past u when his vtec hit. HAHA dont forget to refill the blinker fluid also.
on a serious note, try cleaning the solenoid and check to make sure u have a cel light and/or it isnt burnt out. u might be lacking oil pressure and it isnt engaging vtec.

Re: VTEC Question (jayb98ek)
Do you have stock cam gears or adjustable ones? If you have adjustable ones, try checking their settings. I had this same problem when I first put in my GSR motor. Apparently the idiots I bought the motor from messed around with the cam gears and set them all weird. I was loosing to SOHC Civics and Crx's. I just set the settings back to stock and BAM! SOHC cars have never been able to see me since! Try setting the gears back to stock and see if that helps, if they are not set to stock already and then recheck your timing. Hope that helps.
