vtec problems need help
we did a 2000 gsr swap into a 96 hatch, we used the stock(dx) wire harness and a p72 ecu which came with the motor..Everything is wired up properly..but the problem is that it won't rev passed 5grand which is where vtec kicks in...any idea's what the problem is...we think maybe the vtec cylinoid is bad?? also someone was sayin that the 99-00 gsr's use a different ecu?

Re: vtec problems need help (EEK)
try to see if you can convert it to obd1. get a p28 ecu and the skunk2 plug. and it should take care of your problem. my boy has a 96 hb too with a 00 si motor in it and to get his to work with no probs he changed it to OBD1

Re: vtec problems need help (sk8ordie)
first, vtec turns on at 4400
so your going well past that point.
it sounds like the ecu is in limp mode.
im willing to bet money you have a check engine light.
you need to find out what it is.
and just because you cant rev past 5000 dosent mean it has anything to do with vtec, my vtec didnt work for a month i could still rev to 8400. (just no power above 6000)
