??? vtec problem ???

??? vtec problem ???
ok so I have a 93 D16 and my vtec no longer quicks in, everyhting was fine but now it doesn't want to work. No check engine light goes on, recently, I changed the oil, could it be that it's over fueled or what? How can I go by checking if the vtec is working or what the problem is? Thanks!

check your oil level, my car had the same sort of issue, i was almost due for an oil changin then my vtec would iintermitenly work, checked the oil level and it was low, added oil and worked perfectly fine

u think maybe it has a lot of oil cuse some guy told me that if it has a lot of oil the vtec won't function properly and I need to take some oil off, that single cam only takes in 3 1/2 quarters and I put in 4. U think it might b that?

Where do I stick the 12v wire again? My vtec is also not working, at all. I have no CEL or anything. It apparently hasn't worked since I put in the motor. I've tried a new solenoid, didn't do anything.

When I did the battery to top of solenoid, it sparked like a MFer. I didn't really take the time to listen for a click, but I did hear a nice electrical pop.

Even with it grounded, I just manage to do a bunch of arc welding.

That's because you just connected a positive terminal to an open ground (the VTEC solenoid). It's no different from sticking a ratchet in between your battery terminals.
I don't know the proper decor for where you're supposed to connect the power wire, but touching it to an open metal body like that will give you the infinite ampere dilemma (I don't know if you've ever taken any computer science courses but if you did you'd know what that is) which is why it looks like somebody took a torch to your solenoid.

EDIT: The solenoid is working correctly when a 12 volt is applied. You have to apply the power to the plug, not just touch the solenoid.

Ok, next step is to install a vtec light so I know if the ECU is sending power to the solenoid.
Now, my question is, is there a way to electronically turn on vtec all the time? If I could make vtec engage, then I can rule out a mechanical failure.
If the car is idling and I supply 12v to the solenoid, will the vtec engage or will there not be enough oil pressure?

there are parts on the car that control this function, oil a signal to it from the ecu and a knock sensor. also it could be that it is working and you just not hearing it. hook a wire from selinode ( the one wire not the two coming from the pressure switch) to a light in you car then ground the other terminal of the light. Now Go out and see if it turns on or not. If it does then you have vtec.

I could care less about hearing it. My dyno graph that peaked at 5050rpm and took a nose dive tells me that vtec isn't engaging.
