Default Vtec problem!!

I have a 00 ITR motor in my 00 Civic coupe and I am having problems with my engine bogging at around 5500 rpm, right when vtec is supposed to kick in. I've replaced my o2, fuel pump, fuel filter, oil pump, distributor cap and rotor, checked the wiring, vacuum leaks. Only thing left is my injectors. The guys at the shop who did my swap can't figure it out either, they suggest to replace the injectors, but I'm not sure if that is the problem. It feels like it's choking or bogging and vtec doesn't even engage. Only CEL is code P0131 on the scan tool, any help would be appreciated.

do you have a removable chip? socketed? sounds like your car is running rich see if you can change you ecu chip. make sure you are using the right ecu first of all.

I'm using a stock CTR ecu. Can't find an ITR ecu with an immobilizer removed. Ran with a VAFC2 but I took it out.

the code, P0131 is "Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Primary HO2S) (Sensor 1) Circuit Low Voltage"

so id say its your o2 sensor thats either burned out or shorted. the engine is probably not getting enough fuel which would bog at higher rpms. i had a similar issue with boosting but it was the fuel pump which i put in a walbro 255lph

I think it might be your VTEC solenoid. If your pressure switch is working properly your ECU thinks your timing has switched and changes the fuel map accordingly. If your timing doesn't switch (bad solenoid) you will run extremely rich and bog out. Does it stop bogging at higher RPMS? I would suppose you haven't revved it much higher if VTEC isn't engaging.

It will caust it run rich not lean. You will still feel the crossover.

EDIT: CTR ecu will not provide enough fuel, you will run lean.

does your speedo not function when this happens ? Does this happen until your warms up? if so your speed sensor is going out or hook up improperly, this also makes your car run at that rpm that u speak of.

I've taken it to the shop that swapped the motor and they have 4 times replaced the o2 sensor and it still gives me that code, they've directly wired the primary o2 to the ecu and nothin, still the same. Can't take the rpm higher than 5500k cause i don't wanna cause any damage. My speed sensor is hooked but one bolt broken. I don't see how it might affect it because the bogging happened even when I had an LS tranny with a good VSS. But I'll check that too.

What do you suppose needs to be replaced or fixed? Vtec solenoid? The guys at the shop said they've replaced it already. I've disconnected it and tried to rev it and still the same, bogged at 5500. If it helps, I tried converting to OBD1 with a chipped P28 with a custom program and it ran like ****, the odometer would jump whenever I rev it and bog like crazy.
Thanks for the replies, things I'm gonna check are the injectors, vtec solenoid (how do I test this?), VSS especially!!, oil level or psi?, anything else???

I finally fixed my VTEC problem, it was because of a bad coil and igniter that caused it to bog right before vtec. Now I've only got one problem, it still throws an o2 sensor code. Still got that damn P0131 code. I'll take it to a shop to see what's up. Thanks for all the replies, help appreciated.

** PS - anyone with a bogging problem might wanna start with their distributor. See if anything is wrong or bad with it. First bog was because of a bad cap and rotor, now it's the igniter and the coil. Good luck!

if you said the shop had change the o2 sensor 4 times already then you should ask them to check the o2 wiring from the ecu to the o2 plug. that should be easy for them to do cause the harness is 1 piece... i hope that your swap come with an itr, gsr or walbro fuel pump...

The shop had changed the o2 and directly wired it to the ecu and still has the code after some driving. I'll have to get em to look at it again. Just had the walbro fuel pump put in 2 days ago, thinking that was the problem with the bogging.

if i saw this thread earlier i could have told you that problem right away...my original engine had the same problem, it would start bogging out at higher rpms. it turned out to be the ignition coil and i had **** in the fuel tank. had to change my fuel filter after two times filling my gas tank, not letting it run lower than 1/4 of a tank ( i never do that anyway ). for the code, not too sure. but good luck
