VTEC pressure valve (question)

Default VTEC pressure valve (question)

i have a 00 civic si when i bought the car it had the CEL on. i checked the code and it was the VTEC pressure valve so i changed the whole vtec solenoid valve n all brand new at honda so i reset the ecu then i was driving hit vtec and all of a sudden the CEL poped up again and its throwing the same code at me anybody have any idea what else it could be that makes this happen it only happens when the car is in vtec..im running the obd2 p2t ecu any ideas would help this is driving me nuts

The solenoid isn't the problem, it's your pressure switch. The switch basically tells the engine when there is enough oil pressure for the VTEC system to operate. Try replacing the switch.

well i got everything just incase it was the solenoidwas bad to the swith is brand new as well

i'm having a similiar problem with my car, 1992 honda civic with d16z6 swap. what switch is it that i need to switch out to see if it is faulty?

its right under the vtec solenoid

If the sensor is working properly, it goes off because there isn't enough oil pressure to activate the VTEC solenoid. That means there could be a problem with your oil system not building pressure. Refer to your repair manual for the procedure to test oil pressure. You may need to bring it to a shop.

hmm, i have used two vtec solenoids and still throwing the same code, but i guess i'll take look for the oil pressure procedure.
