Has it always acted that way since it was tuned ??? Do you get a check engine light once you have hit VTEC ??? If so, what code ??? Vtec problems/issues should not affect how the car idles.

im having an issue with my vtec solenoid too. im not sure if this is the same situation but i think vtec is there.
i have a stock p72 obd1 and there is a wire comming off the vtec solenoid but when vtec supposedly hits, i get a CEL and its code 21.
after i t urn off the car and turn it back on the light goes away until vtec hits agian then the light shows up agian.
help?
