Default Are vtec and NON vtec distributors compatable?help asap please.

will an obd2 distributor from a non vtec SOHC work on an obd2 vtec head?

the dizzy is from a D15y7 or (whatever came in the 96-98 DX) and be transplanted to a 00' D16y8.

thanks.

ya it will work, but u need to make the hole on the leg of the top side of the NON-vtec distro bigger so u can fit the bolt that goes though the leg to the vtec head (girnder/dremel does miricles). People say it doesnt work , but i made the hole bigger on the top leg of the distro and it bolted right up and the car started , but the car WILL run like dirt, but it will run. Another thing is if you are **** about things i wouldnt go this route because ur only going to have the distro held up to by 1 bolt the other 2 legs dont align up ..ohhh BTW i did it on a OBD1 setup, it should be familiar though....

It all depends on what harness you are using. Distributors in those years are all the same, Vtec or non vtec. They of course have different plugs based upon if they are OBD2 or OBD2B. Dizzy must match what OBD harness it is interfacing with.

i found a wire diagram.
and the only differnece between obd2b and obd2 on the harnesses are the blue engine speed output wire.

is it possable to wire it up to the obd2b harness without the blue wire???
will it still run correctly??

the two side tabs might be different but the top one will bolt in. You can run with just one bolt on the top, I did. Had no problems man but my dizzy was obd-1.

the bolts for obd2 and obd2b are all the same, the only difference is the wiring.
im trying to figure out if i can exclude the blue wire safely.

i have a friend who did the same **** u just talked about mike... he grined down the hole and make it fix.. but running like ****... it not giving the firing order.. so i'm looking for a vtec distributor for him.. d15 vtec.. i suggest u go my route and go find one.. because it would save u a clutch change.. if u have stick.. u would not be able to start out as lean and u have major lag on the car.. and if u trying reving a lil to get power.. ur clutch is gonna get worn out so fast..

u get wat u pay for.. that all i have to say...
