Default vtec or no vtec, that is the question

im kinda biased in asking this question. id like all the people with eg/eh hatches with swaps to respond.
i dont know if this topic has been discussed b4 but
like most places, gas prices are going up and were having a war over oil...
i just wanted to know is it worth a vtec swap(b series) even though youll have to pay for premium octane at the pump for using a vtec motor?is it worth it.

or just go b18b LS and get away using 87octane.
if your wondering the car would be for all around use.
just wanted some opinions. thanks in advance

the issue i have been considering is whether to hold onto the d16z6 or get a b18b. to vtec or not.... still. but im not giving up my 87 octane
