help, headlight are dim. 96 ek sedan lx
my headlights are dim, im not sure why, i purchase the car like that. the bulb, fuses are good and the highbeam are normal. i notice when i turn on the headlight, the highbeam icon on the cluster lights up but highbeam arent on, can this be a bad wiring?

If you take the bulb out of the headlight is it still dim? Separate fuses for low and highbeam did you check them both?

also clean the grounds for the headlight harness located right behind the headlight attached to the fender wall

Do the continuity tests in the upper table for the headlight switch. There should only be continuity between two circled terminals connected by the line. Do all the combinations/permutations.
Most relevant to your problem is the B6-B3 test with the switch in the low position. Measure the resistance.
The high beam indicator turning on when the switch is in the low position may be a separate problem.

You said the headlights are good. Do you mean they are new, or they just illuminate? You do know that halogen bulbs dim over time, correct? Also, I know 96-00 had plastic headlights and they would haze over and make the lights dimmer.

are the lenses yellow?
I just restored mine, and it looks like I put in HID headlights....
get some 400 grit sandpaper and sand them a bit...then hit with 800.... itll take the yellow off the headlights and help ALOT.

Re: help, headlight are dim. 96 ek sedan lx
finally got a chance to upload picture of the issue i think causing this nonsense.
i took off the steering column and steering wheel so i can get the headlight switch out when i disconnected i saw this im assuming its the switch ground? if it is it wasnt connected.
then when i look at the harness it didnt look like it was oem. looks like the previous owner customize something. cuase i saw the oem plug connected to the other end of this that went to the headlight switch. so i unplug it and plug the oem one into the swtich and still same thing. looks like its burnt.
so i inspect the 7 plug pin i realize it was missing 2. isnt 7 wire suppose to be all there?
and looking back at the custom plug they made thow two wire are red/white are those suppose to be with the 7 pin plug since two wire are missing? anyone have a wiriing color code order diagram for this ? im so lost atm. ron j please set me back straight again!

in this picture is that the switch ground or something cause it wasnt connected if it was. and i dont see the ground wire for that anywhere.
the switch should be fine since its turns on and everything function correctly, so if i fix all the wire my light should be back to normal correct?
and i should leave this plug out since iono what the heck it is.
