vtec kick in?
ok, on my 96 dx that i've made a 99-00 si clone, the vtec would kick in at 5500rpm's but i just put in the si cluster with the with face gauges and i noticed yesterday that it kicking in at around 5800rpm's im pretty sure the cluster number placements on the tach were the same so my question is, what would make my vetec kick in later that it has?

so what is a clone? do you have a b16a2?
if you put si gauge faces over your stock ex gauges
then the rpm's are off.
the si rpm gauge would show 7rpm but would really be 6rpm

a clone is, if you look at this car you could not tell it's not an original si, we gutted the shell and went to work. so it is a real si but a 96 had to change everything, harness, front end, interior, heater box, heater controls, fuel pump, window regulators, everything was changed and took 3 weeks in the garage after work

yea, that is alot of miles but the lady who owned the car was a sales rep for some company and had the car serviced all the time, and ave me the records of all the things done to it, so with that i was still able to get $350 for that motor. but does anyone know whats going on with the vtec kicking in late?

If you are using the Si ECU (hopefully you are) then that's what it's programmed to do. Do you have a light hooked up to the VTEC solenoid or are you going by the sound of the engine. You may need to recalibrate your brain.
You should also try disconnecting the battery and letting the ECU reset, if you havent' already.
