Default vtec indicator light, searched just have a question on instructions

reason i want to do it is cuase it will only take 15min max

and sometimes on my sohc vtec in my 90 hatch i can hear it turn on, and other times its like "hmmm"

its not like a dohc where all u have to do is open the air box go on wot and you'll know so thats why im doing it see if its always on not to give my passengers in the car "oooh whats that" im gonna mount it towards driver side where no one can really see.

question is on these instructions
http://www.hazone.com/hvlight.htm it says put resistors in ground of negative wire...but why the neg wire? dont get it neither does he say why?

another question is wont the 12v led take away power from the solenoid.
light up the led light but not the vtec? ive read one comment and one guy said it shouldnt and hardly takes any current? that true?

all u gotta do is splice a wire into the vtec solinoid, ground it, solder the wire to the light and put the light where ever u want.

yeah i know that , simple wiring but just wondering will the power it takes to turn on the light drain it from turning on the vtec solenoid, and why in the instructions does it say use resistors on the neg side.

u don't need no stinking resistor.i have mine wired up directly for 6 months and work's fine...

No. B/c you are making a parrell circuit. So each "leg" you run off the solenoid will have the same amount of voltage. It won't drain any voltage. I'
ve had mine about a year now.

You need the resistor because you'll burn out the LED otherwise, You can buy LEDs that have the resister built into them if you want to skip this step.

Hook up a LED directly to a battery and see what happens within .5 seconds its toast without the resistor.

And you will draw SOME current away from the solenoid but no where near enough to cause any problems, a LED uses what 200ma ?
