Default Vtec help

Will I have a 1998 Ek4 b16 and have had it for 3months now always thought it was quick but only in 1, 2, 3, then really slow in 4 an then pretty much nothing in 5th an will just about do 120mph am I thought it might have something to do with the previous work carried out by last owner dc2 cams manifold throttle body injectors and s80 gearbox and was wondering if these could be to fault

Thanks in advance

I don't see any relation to the tile of the thread....don't expect much in 5th, you know DC2 is a designate for the GS-R also...but i'm guessing you mean type r. It's a b16 don't expect much....

Thanks for the quick reply sorry for that from what I was told they are integra type r parts my problem was that an nearly standard ek4 came past me tonight at a 100 an I couldn't keep up after finally catching him he said all that was done to his was full stainless exhaust an decat also something to do with a prelude ecu I'm guessing a h22 could mine be badly tuned or would the parts that have been fitted need tuned?

um, first off it's a b16, they have barely any torque, and not much power. As for a tune, any time you add something (cams, intake, exhaust) or anything of that sort, you should get a tune.

The proper ECU is also needed to run your engine. An H22 ECU running a b16 is not going to work right at all.

no that's not something you can diy with out a s300 or other EMS. The guy could easily have a b18c type r in there and just be messing with you. Somehow I don't think a prelude ECU will even fit, I could be wrong on that

Any pics of the car?

I used to have a 4 door Integra and when I took the spoiler off the top speed was around 127mph (supposed to be 130), but when I had the spoiler on I couldn't get the car to go past 110mph.

if you're going 120mph on public highways, you shouldn't worry about power loss in 4th and 5th gear. You don't have a VTEC issue, you just have a weakass car with peanut-size torque.
