depends on what ecu your running. prolly around 5200 or something.
whats the reasoning for needing to know when vtec engages?

You retards need to read up on VTEC-E some time.

As others have mentioned, it will depend on what ECU you are running. The stock VX ECU (P07) should lock the second intake valve onto the main camshaft lobe at around 2500 RPM.

Re: Vtec Engagment? (JDM B16A)
guys, this is a z1, a vtec-e motor, just like the d16y5.
vtec-e is a lean burn vtec that operates on a single intake valve for the first part of the prm range, usually up until about 2500 or 3000 rpm. then vtec-e engages, in a similar manner to normal vtec, it uses BOTH intake valves locked together on the higher cam lobe.
these engines are designed for efficiency, they are not designed for you to hear m4d vtaaaak!1!

there is a versoin of the jdm d15b that has 3 stage vtec, a combination of the vtec we all know and love, as well as a lean burn mode in lower rpm to combine good top end power with excellent fuel efficiency in low rpms
