Your tach could be off. Check your V-Afc's digital tach and it should be right on the money.

5500 rpm

*edit-also its not good to have your vtec set below 5000 rpm because their is not enough oil pressure. you may want to check your vafc.

It's 5500. Just take your car on the highway, floor it, and listen. When it hits 5,500, you'lll hear it.

Thanks guys. Looks like the shop that install my vafc set the vtec engagement at 5000 rpm. I just change it to 5700.

The engagement depends on gas pedel pressure!
My HX (yes I know it is a different VTEC) engages anywhere from 2700-3200.

Where the hell do all you guys get your information from? I thought everybody knew on a b16a1, and a2 that it engages at 5500. On an ITR it engages at 5700. There is no stock b-series motor where it engages at 5200, or 5400, or whatever. Please, learn your facts before you post in the future.

Why would you set it higher than stock? Atleast leave it at 5,500. IMO 5 grand sounds just about right.

I believe(not 100% sure) that anything lower than that and you lose torque. I think mugen's vtec crossover point is at 5700rpm.

Have you read this information from a Helm's manual? As I thought everyone and their mother knew, factory gauges are not dead on accurate. If so, then my car's fuel cut-off is 7400rpm and not 7200rpm as it says in the manual. I trust what is in the manual over what the gauge reads. You should too.

whats all this "I thought everybody knew" ****....that's ******* gay.....if we were all experts we wouldn't be on this board.

we have established that vtec activates @ 5500

we should end it at that.

I wasn't the one who started this childish nonsense. And don't start with the flaming, I do not flame unless flamed upon. Grow up and stop being childish.

Excuse me, but I do not think it should be a problem to inform someone sarcastically. If everyone around here has such a sensitive emotional problem then maybe they should seek professional counseling. Also, I know we are all here to learn, but when someone asks a stupid question.........

Well, VTEC engagement point is something that is so basic. It can be found readily so many places on the net. Look here at a simple dyno plot. The I/H/E clearly shows the bump in the powerband starting at 5400rpms. A picture is worth a thousand words.

the fact that dyno tuning your engagement point goes without saying. I don't disagree with you, sarcasm is cool, but lets not start talking down to people.

BTW my original post was not even fully directed @ you.
