Default Vtec doesnt stay on.

I have a b16a and the vtec comes on for like the first 10 minutes from when i turn it on (its also when the car is warmed up). or when i do one pull in two or three gears. After that it turns off and the engine light comes on. All the conncetions are connected. the car is tuned to something i dont know but the dizzy is advanced. if the dizzy is at the regular positoin it has no power. When i turn the dizzy a bit back the vtec works. idk its all confussing but im in need. I raced a regular cobalt and lost and my vtec wasnt working. but any help would be appreciated. I can describe it more also sry.

Not sure if it would work at all if this happened... but did you make sure that you didn't reverse the oil pressure switch and VTEC solenoid plugs when you put it back on?

Also, you need to adjust your ignition timing properly with a timing light.

how much oil do you have? if it drops in pressure cause of lack of oil vtec will shut off.

the switches are correct, how can i check the pressure of the oil and fix it? i had one valve cover bolt broken and i had just the seal covering it and was driving for about two days but just to the store and back type of driving. i replaced that bolt yesterday. could that put air in the engine? is there any way can clean the vtec solenoid? also i dont have a timing light but can auto zone rent one out?

Just check your oil level and make sure it's proper.

Broken valve cover bolt isn't a huge deal, just try to get it fixed. It wouldn't cause problems like this though.

I've heard of people putting the plugs on backwards before. I'm not sure how, but i've heard about it.
