Vtec bogg?! Wtf?!
I have a 96 EJ8 5spd. I bottomed out and busted my exhaust tip ( retarded loud!) and now when im tryin to get up to speed in 2nd and 3rd it boggs down instead of hitting vtec. I get no throttle response until the next gear. Im not sure if its because there isnt much back pressure or what. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!
No problems with exhaust.
No dents or anything in oi pan.
Full of oil.
Wires are good.
Solenoid is new.
Solenoid gasket is new.
Filters are clean and in good shape.
Plenty of VTAK fluid, and Vtec resivior is good! Lmao.

Re: Vtec bogg?! Wtf?!
No crushed spots, just went threw and inspected the whole exhaust. Also just put the new tip on. Drove perfect after the first start up. Wouldnt bogg down at all, but vtec wouldnt engage in any gear. After the second start up, it started to bogg down again at around 5500-6000rpms. Im dumbfounded. I replaced the vtec solinoid too. didnt help. Plenty of oil. Wires are all intact. Plugs are clean. New gasket. Help?

Check your air and fuel filters. Do you have a shitty idle? Also, what size intake and exhaust?
There is a such thing as ruining your car with improper mods. For example, 3" intake with a 2.25" exhaust gave me better top end, dropped the pipe down to a 2.25 turbo pipe (left over from my friends kit) and still 2.25 inch exhaust and i have less top end but better bottom end. (small differences, but noticeable by the daily driver AKA ME :D ). Also check your throttle body for build up of carbon and straight up dirtiness. My TB was so dirty when I got the car and now that its clean it runs smoother throughout the rpm band.

Re: Vtec bogg?! Wtf?!
the filters are fairly new. but it only started doing this after i bottomed out really hard. the exhaust and intake have been on there for a few years now. no issues with the vtec till after it bottomed out.

^This is a possibility. VTEC relies hevy on oil, as does the engine too of course. You **** up the pressure or how the oil sits when idling or off and it'll mess up the engine. Maybe when you let it sit, the oil sits low enough in the oil pan and is like stock but once it moves around, it's reservoir and stationary position **** all the oil properties up? Possibility, after this, I'm at a loss as well.

Re: Vtec bogg?! Wtf?!
You more then likely did some oil pan damage when you bottomed out. A big rock hit my oil pan and dented it bad. When I took the pan off the oil pickup which sits low in the pan was kinked, and the engine was barely getting oil flow. The oil pressure light never came on since it needs to see lower then ~8PSI of pressure to come on. At idle you make about 11-12PSI. Check your oil pan.

No damage was done to the oil pan.

Re: Vtec bogg?! Wtf?!
I'd say clean the IACV (w/e it is) but thats is for shitty idol most of the time.
Map sensor?
Fuel pump?
Wrong fuel? (93 is a must)
Timing Belt is off by 1 groove?
EDIT: Now that I think about it, try changing where you buy your gas. My local shell used to be great, and then one day my car started running funny after I filled up from them. Switched to chevron and It was good, then after while my car started running like **** on that as well. Now I've been getting gas from my local BP for 11 months now and no hick-ups (they are privately owned, and serviced by Carrol fuel)
