VSS testing without harness (DOING THIS RIGHT NOW, IN A BIND)
I have a 97 EL and speedometer was acting (and the CEL came on) up so i checked my VSS. The middle terminal on the sensor was corroded and acctally fell out when i touched it with a multimeter probe. So i got a VSS from a wrecker. I installed it and just took it for a 2 or 3 minute spin. The speedometer still does not work but i no longer have a CEL.
I want to do the diagnostic tests without the HARNESS.
The VSS has a Blue with White stripe, black with yellow strip, and all black wires.
I was wondering which clips (red, green, white) correspond with which wire?
Also, in the event the middle plug is coated with corrosion, how do you reccomend cleaning it?

Re: VSS testing without harness (marks97el)
Well, I figured out the harness situation.
RED CLIP = blk
WHITE CLIP = blk/yel
GREEN CLIP = blu/wht
That should help people when this thread is archived.
My problem is that the blu/wht wire is not properly connected in the harness.
Sometimes it will show just under 5V on the voltmeter, but when i barely tug on the plug the voltage disappears.
Thank god i don't need a new speedo.
