Is it the VSS?
My speedo moves around randomly and most people would say it's the VSS. But if the speedo is moving around even at idle or even when I just turn the accessories on (car is off).... could it still be teh VSS or does it sound liek somethingelse, like say the gauge cluster??

Doubtful. The most likely culprit is bad circuitry and/or solder on the back of the gauge cluster. This is a very common problem in "EG" chassis Civics and has happened to almost all of the ones in my family. Get a new cluster and you're set.

check your in car fuses
my ek did something like this and it was caused by some crazy fuse in the in car fuse panel.
I want to say it was the alternator fuse but im not 100%. It was a very odd fuse to be blown, i went thru them 1 by 1...

that hapend to me in my eg when i accelerate hard or go over bumps my spedo needle would shake around. it turned out to be the connector to the vss was loose i just tighten it and it went away. and i never heard of the cluster beign the problem.

Having sold 15-20 VSS, the number one issue is a dirty connection at the tranny. Only one VSS was really bad.
