visual inspection main and rod bearing and pistons
i just took apart my D15b7. Would like some experienced eyes to look at what is wearing out abnormally or if any thing is too far worn down, i took several pictures.
Also based on the pictures what is the overall shape of my engine?

on the pictures with the pistons, those lines/scars appear in all four pistons above the top compression ring. is that saying anything?

Re: visual inspection main and rod bearing and pistons
Main bearings look ok, rod bearing #4 looks to have some funny wear, but nothing major.
Are the pistons showing that ringland wear evenly, all the way around all four pistons?
If you're planning on just putting it all back together without replacing things, I would check my ring gap at least.
What was the reason for the tear-down?

Re: visual inspection main and rod bearing and pistons
the reason for tear down was because of repeated head gasket issue. Now i finally determined to deck the block to get everything straight instead of resurfacing only the head and have it blow again in a few years
RE: 94eg8 yea i noticed there's carbon deposits between the top and bottom oil rings. was trying to wash them out haha.
If i get new rings, wouldn't i need to hone the cylinder walls also then?
RE:jbpnoman No, the ring land area on the piston has more of those "line scars" on the thrust side only, on piston 1,2,4. but those lines appears all around on piston 3

Yes have the cylinders honed since you have the pistons out, and replace the rings - why not? You'll end up with a good running motor when you're done.
