very wierd idle problem (B16) need help!! *searched
anyhow,
So about a week ago, my idle started getting all wierd, so I go and clean out the IACV...No dice, so I go and clean out the FITV, No dice....
but it idles at about 2500rpm on startup, and then when it starts to warm up, sometimes it will fluctuate and bounce from 1500rpm to 2500rpm, and if it doesn't bounce, it will steadily idle at about 1300rpm...I have tried just about everything and nothing works!!!
what could it be?? I have not found any vacuum leaks...the throttle cable seems fine...maybe I didn't clean out the valves enough???
please help, I'm stumped.

no.
but i set it about 3 degrees retarted since I kinda need it.....my b16 is boosted.
but the idle started [freak]ing up on its own. I didn't mess with anything for about a month before it started messing up.

your the first person i found to have a very simular problem to myself. however it got a little better aftr finding a vacuum leak just below the IM, found a couple bolts missing from the IM, and cleaning iacv. but now were considering TB gasket or the timing is off.

yeah man you have probably heard this before, but ima say it anyways. You can check for a vacuum leak by spraying something really flamable ie starter fluid, carb cleaner, around intake manifold and seee if idle changes. One quick way to isolate a vacuum leak

so I found out it's not a vacuum leak.
I took off the fitv and found broken gaskets (o-rings), I also found a little moisture inside the throttle body. And on top of that, before my car gets to operating temperature, my car spits out white smoke until it gets to operating tempurature.
This makes me thing that either I need to get new o-rings for my fitv or just get a new fitv in general.
What do you guys think?

well I was informed, that my ecu (obd1 chipped P30), does not control the FITV and that I can just block off coolant from getting there.
My only question is: Is it possible for it to do it's job properly if I don't replace the broken o-rings?

Nevermind, I fixed the idle problem!
It was a stupid one too lol....I just had to spend half an hour taking off the throttle body and FITV and tightening the FITV, then putting it all back on lol....
[freak]in stupid.
