damn, 10 post already, that was fast!

hey OP,

CEL = check engine light
LCA = lower control arm
MC = master cylinder
BB = brake booster

these are a couple of abbrevations we use on here to type faster.

also, why would you shift from 2nd to 4th? i miss understood what you whwere saying originally. i though you where talking about when you shift (1..2..3..4) and you were once if 4th that the car would shake.

how about using 3rd, flooring it and then using 4th. it might just take care of your problem!

It's hard to tell if there's actually a problem here... If the shaking is very violent, and persists in higher rpms, you're probably not firing properly. Does your exhaust smell rich? Does your catalytic converter get very hot, and possibly glow after a long drive? Are you getting very poor gas mileage? Does the problem get worse as the car warms up?

If any of those symptoms sound accurate, do two things: change all your spark plugs, and check all the grounding connections in your engine bay. Faulty grounding connections to the block may prevent your spark plugs from reaching enough potential to actually create a spark.

Get an auto trans that way you don't need to worry about missing 3rd.

Did this just start recently, only when you jump gears or what? My civic doesn't do this when I skip gears on accident, but my cavalier did the exact same thing just before the clutch took a crap and the tranny had to be rebuilt.

i have a B18C, and Im having what seems to be the same problem as you. If I floor it, i smell a lot of gas and the car looses a LOT of power, i.e. it doesnt run right after 6000rpm and just bogs.
