Very mad with Hondata, any advice? Long..

Down Since Day 1
Coming from a customer service rep, i would call them and be cool about it at 1st, calmly explain your situtation. Emphasize there was a mix-up, and you have documents on what you have and what you sent in. Just try to be cool at 1st, if they dont budge. Just keep going higher up in the company, dont take call backs, and stay on hold for however long it takes to get it resolved.

OT: After every thing I had read on this board about Hondata great customer service. I was disturbed when I got the reply to my email. Half the questions did not get answered and the one they did answer was vague. I felt like they where blowing me off.
On the other hand I sent two ecu's to Hondata and got them back in less than three days. I am positive they sent me the same ECU I sent them. (p28)
I hope you get this resolved.

Re: (rolow)
1 oz of prevention is better than 1lb of heartache. In all honesty they don't have to do a damn thing. If their original invoice states p28 ecu and the one you have states p28 ecu, they did their job. It will even hold up in court. You basically would have to have some kind of receipt from willis and a picture with a date on it of the actual ecu that shows it is a p72 along the new ecu and something that shows the difference. Hondata, if they would want, to could ask you to send your ecu back and they could send you out a program p72, but its like I said, its gonna depend on how good of a mood they are in that day. In the business world it is the customer's responsibility to ensure that they get the right item.

wow.
is it possible they received your ecu and sent you one of their off the shelf to speed up the process for themselves?
I have had single people (tuners) do that with me and my ecu's I have sent in for chipping.

Jonathan_EH,
As it is the weekend, I cannot check on any of the information you have provided. I suggest you call me (Doug) mid morning Monday.
One of several things has happened.
1) A P28 ECU was sent in a P72 case. This has happened several times before. The P72 has a knock sensor circuit board and the P28 does not. Unless your documentation specifically mentioned you sent us a P72, the staff may not have picked up that the circuit board and label did not match.
It is very rare for us to socket a P72 ECU. When we do we have to remove the additional circuit board. We might get one a month, so my staff will know if a P72 was done in the time frame you mention.
2) A mistake was made in which case we either still have the P72 or, when it was being shipped, it may have been switched for a P28. It is easy enough for us to track all ECU socketing done over a course of several days.
In the future we will record the serial numbers and ECU types of all ECUs coming in and out to make it easier to avoid these situations.
Can you give me the engine spec for which you wish to use this ECU. For example, is it boosted, do you use a stock GSR intake manifold etc.
