Default valve cover hose?

Don't know much about vehicles but I went to start my car this morning and it wouldn't turn over. I'm probably convinced that it needs a new distributor. I went to check around the engine and I saw this hose that is connected to the valve cover gasket just dangling loose. I was wondering if anyone can tell me were I should plug it into cause I'm not sure where to attach it to. Will this cause the engine to possibly not turn over? It did rain last night and my vehicle does have a hood scoop on it.

Its a 95 civic coupe with a b18b engine.

That's your breather. It should feed directly into your intake.

It hooks to the intake.

Word of advice; get a manual for your car.

Yes, that is the correct way to run that hose.

Cover changed apparently, I purchased it and the guy had replaced the engine with a B18 and put a new cover. Also, thanks for the help guys now I need to get my freaking car to turn over

Test the battery, bench test the starter, and check for spark. No start diagnostics 101, and you can do all of the above with basic tools that everyone who turns a wrench should have. Basic hand tools, a voltmeter, and a timing light.

i've replaced the battery, starter, did the caps/rotor about a month ago. I do hear the fuel pump engaging I'm not sure if it may be the spark plug itself but a mechanic says that the distributor is often a common problem considering that the body of the civic is sitting at 274465km. i don't think the previous owner replaced it so I think it maybe due for a change?

Don't guess; troubleshoot. But ... is there any corrosion at the battery terminals? (I only ask because I am resolving this problem right now once and for all on my Civic.)

Test for spark. There are a number of write ups in the FAQs sticky on how to test a distributor. Follow them. Post the numbers. You might not need to replace the entire unit. ****, you might not need to replace it at all.

Nope no corrosion at all on the battery terminals and the wiring still looks like their in good shape. Do I test for spark in the spark plugs
