my b16 valve cover OE paint is chipping off and I want to remove the paint. what application do you guys use to remove the paint?

jasco paint stripper. or maybe even a wire wheel on a drill. or if your up to is sandpaper. use your imagination man

airplane paint stripper its a blue/white can u can find it at pepboys its some krazy ****

I used automotive paint remover that i got from Part Source. It worked amazing, stripped all of the paint off in like literally 2-3 minutes.

i think its actually aircraft stripper, some people are slow and look for airplane stripper all day... but that stuff will take it off hella fast but its really toxic replace the seals when your done

I can vouch for the power of aircraft stripper, used it to take the black graphite paint off the rims of my CBR. My question is:

Are there any negative effects of simply stripping the paint off the valve cover and leaving it as such? My D-series has no paint and is without problems, is the material under the paint on my B the same?

used the aircraft stripper on my crv b20 valvecover ... the stuff works awsome i would recommend it to anybody

sanfd blast it, it will remove paint and minor surface abrasions and make all shiny!!

i would clear coat it afterwards because the aluminum will oxidize, and yes the d and b-series valve cover are made of the same material

hell yeah its toxic, i was using it one day and a little bit got on my arm, it started burning like it never burnt before

lol, same thing happaned to me the end got a little clogged and i went to wipe it off and it still had pressure in it or something and it sprayed a little on my hand, i thought my hand was on fire

yeah definetely use the aircraft stuff.

i've stripped 2 valve covers.
one with some paint stripper I bought at home depot,
another with the aircraft brand stuff.

the homedepot stuff basically melted the paint off, and left a stain color of the paint on the valve cover..

the aircraft stuff basically bubbled up and LIFTED the paint off the valvecover, leaving completely clean 100% metal surface.

oh and yes it's very toxic, wear gloves, man if you have a cut or something..
