valve adjustment question...on a sohc vtec
1st of all i know how to do a valve adjustment and follow the spec and all....i always wondering if i could use more thinner feeler gauge to make the valve rockers stop ticking. what i mean i want the valve train to run quiet if there possiable. i know all honda have a lil tick to them but is there a way to make them quiet ?

thicker oil?
From what I understand, a thinner clearance will mean the Intake/Exhaust valves will be open a fraction more and that might cause some kind of problem, IE backfire but I'm honestly not to sure
I'd like to know also the answer to your question

That slight ticking is most likely not your valvetrain if you are using an appropiate oil. Mobil 1 synthetic seems to be noisier than other syns out there. The dino Mobil 5000 or the 7500 blend hasn't been as noisy for me, but for some reason the engine overall has been quieter with the Mobil 1 EP 10w30 than any of the regular Mobil 1 syns.
Many people mistake the fuel injectors' solenoids noise of ticking )from opening and closing) with valvetrain. Some fuel injectors are noisier than others.
