Valentine 1 Remote Display Custom Install Write-Up

i've done this before on my hatchbacks, and it turned out very well, so i decided to do it again to my coupe, and show you guys a good place to put it if you are using a V1 (which is the only detector to use https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif )

basically, there's not much to write up. the display fits very tightly in the hole where the clock usually goes. the only thing you do is get a clock blocker, and cut the middle out of it, so that you can put the pieces up tightly around the remote display. next, push the display in flush with the dash, and put a few drops of hot glue on the backside of the display in between itself and the pieces of the clock blocker. now you have an oem looking V1 remote display mounted nicely in the dash of your civic https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Thats just a remote display that you can buy seperatly. It plugs into the v1 base station and reads from there. He probably has the v1 mounted somewhere else in the car, or puts it up when he uses it.

yeah, i have the v1 mounted and hard wired above the rear view mirror, very hard to notice from outside of the car. you want it as high as possible, preferrably in the middle of the glass. i can nail a cop in town about 3 miles away on a straight, flat road.

i got mine from ebay back in the day for $350 brand new. the only other place to get one is their website, and thats gonna cost you $400. you can get a used one, and have the warranty put in your name, and its just like you bought it from their website.

i've had every other kind of so called "great" detector (bel vector, passport escort, K40, etc, etc), but nothing comes close to the V1, simply because of the arrows, and the fact that it will keep track of multiple signals at once, and still let you know what the biggest threat is. it won't just switch to the strongest signal like any other one. imagine you're driving down a road, and start to slightly pick up a Ka band radar (which is more than likely a cop). the signal gets stronger, but you then pass in front of an X band automatic door at a grocery store. if you dont have a V1, your junk will drop the Ka band signal (which is the real threat), and pick up the useless X band door, because every other detector will just switch to the stronger signal. the V1 will inform you of both, and the arrow to where the biggest threat is coming will flash, and it will tell you how strong the signal is. there is no other detector that will keep track of up to 9 different signals at once, that's why i think the V1 is the best on the market.

and the arrows - think about this, you are hauling ass, and your detector starts to go off....but it has no arrows. you must take your eyes off the road (which is bad), and look around for the cop. that can be pretty bad. the v1 basically points to where the signal is coming from.

Agreed! There is no better radar detector. Period! You could save the $$$ and buy a cheaper one but then you will deserve every ticket you get.
