VAFC or Hondata with turbo....
Hey guys, Im buying a greddy turbo kit with FMIC and it doesnt have the blue box or wiring. Im also doing an EX head swap, so I need either the VAFC or a new ECU to set up the VTEC. I was wondering which one to go with....I think that you need a standalone computer (laptop or something) for the Hondata, and the VAFC you dont, but what exactly would I need to get my VTEC to work and to have the right fuel maps for the turbo??? Thanks a ton guys!

Re: VAFC or Hondata with turbo.... (DragII-Sellout)
My budget is pretty much dependant on how long I want to save...Im in HS and dont have any bills (cars payed for and I only pay half of my insurance...already got that taken care of) and I wasnt planning on intalling my turbo right when I got it (need to learn a little more first). The only thing is that I wanted to tune the car myself to learn more about it...how hard would it be for me to do that with either?

If you want to go for Hondata, here are things you need to get:
OBD2-to-OBD1 harness
OBD1 ECU
OBD1 Distributor
They'll total up to about $400-500....pretty damn expensive. And then there's the actual Hondata unit plus the b option.
I have a pre-obd pr3 and i'm going with V-AFC and S-ITC. I'll use V-AFC to tune the fuel map and use ITC to tune my ignition map. You could find a used ITC for about $150 and V-AFC for about $250. Which is a lot cheaper. It's all up to how thick your wallet is.
