someone once told me that for long trips, you could adjust the fuel on the vafc so you have better gas milage. where in the vafc do i ajust the fuel? in the high throttle or low throttle? Would i just lean it out? i tried that once and my mpg was worse. any help would be appreciated.

that's BS, the only way you could even think about doing that is on a dyno, and you would have to know where your Throttle position is, and the average AF ratio during cruising at 70 or so MPH, you would spend more than you save easy.

I've tried doing it before, but I don't think it really helps anything. I still get around 32mpg in the city. You might be able to get better results on long trips but I doubt it. What you would have to do is lean it out across the entire rpm band and that is not advisable.
