V-tech Rebuilt Distributor.
Hey guys. Following up my last topic, the clicking noise from my car turned out to be the distributor problem (very common with 92-95 civics). I don't know for sure it's the distributor problem, the mechanic told me that without taking out the part because it's gonna cost me like 70 bucks labor cost just for inspecting it. Anyway, I decided to get a used/rebuilt one cuz it costs $450 for a new one. Does anyone know where I can get one for a decent price? Also, if I'm not replacing it soon, will it have any negative effects on my car? (Right now the car is absolutely ok, no performance loss or something, just the noise). Thanks for any input.

I have a brand new (staright out of the Honda shelf) distributor housing from a 95 civic EX sohc. I also have igniter (used). You would have to buy the ignition coil which should run you about 60 bucks at Honda. Let me now if you are interested. Remember that the housing is brand new, but the insides that I have are from another used distributor.

my friends 92 accord had distributer issues-and it was just noisy for 5 months, then he replaced it.
My 93 civic, on the other hand, started making noise, then left my goofey azz stranded two days later.
I think it all depends on you luck more then anyhting else. Mine sucks.

You don''t have to buy a new coil or igniter- just switch them into the new distributor. Most remans have shitty Italian coils or igniters that do not last.

Something strange happened. The noise started going down and now it's completely gone. I don't it's just good for temporary so it'll be gone forever. It might be something dirty stuck on the rotor and it's good now. I hope the noise won't come back, I really don't want to spend hundred bucks to fix the stupid noise.

Not chewing you out or flaming you or anything, just letting you know that it is VTEC (Valve Timing Electronically Controlled), not V-tech. V-tech makes phones, VTEC makes power
Yeah, I've heard bad things about rebuilt distributors, some people have actually had them fall apart.

Actually VTEC stands for "Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control"

Not to get picky, but Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control IS the official definition of VTEC. If you don't believe me, click on the link below.
