Post V-tec Problem! Help please!

I have a D16Y8 engine. Problem with my vtec is that its not engaging! This is what happens. I accelerate up to the point that my eninge is supposed to hit vtec which is at 5,600 rpm. And what is does is that when it hits the 5,600 rpm instead of hitting vtec, its hitting the rev limit. and the rev limit for my engine is supposed to be at 7,200 rpm. What can be the problem causing that is hitting the rev limit too soon when its the vtec thats supposed to engage. Help please, Thank You!

start with the easy stuff first, check plugs, grounds, etc... then make sure u have enough oil. vie seen it way 2 often when your low on oil at higher rpms it wont make enough oil pressure and no vtec.
good luck

i have a few ecus, well actually about 100 or more. im sure i have one for you. and yea next time be sure to tell us the whole story. knowing that you have never had it engage vtec could have been important information. i was gonna suggest the Tstat ecu ground, but thats great to hear its just an ecu. i have many, i can one send out to you for about 50$ shipped. lmk

you should be able to find the ECU for your engine in a junkyard. The only thing is that whoever swapped the engine might have modified the wiring harness to accommodate the new engine. You may as well find the right ecu, and get a wire map of your stock harness to help you wire it to the new ECU (or just visit boomslang or rywire to get a pre-made adapter)
