V-tec does not work!!
Recently, I took my GSR head to the machine shop and they told me my exhaust valves were bent. So I had him replace the valves. Yesterday, I put the head on and made sure everything was pluged in correctly. I drove my car to see if everything was okay, and my v-tec didnt turn on. My engine light is not on so i dont know what is the problem. So can you guys give any idea what can be wrong with it? I also replaced the top of the v-tec silenode but there is still not difference. P.S. sorry for the spelling

oil pressure. make sure you have enough oil in there. make sure you have the vtec wires pluged in. make sure the vtec silenode is clean and in good working order. thats about what i think you should do. am i leaving anything out?

Let me ask a stupid question: did you let your engine warm up first? As dumb as it may sound, my VTEC won't kick in unless the motor's already been going for a while.

Yes, I did warm up my car before i drove it. I open up the top of the v-tec selinode and it did have specs of oil on it so im thinking is functing correctly.

next thing i would do is check your oil pressure, there is an o-ring under the center cam cap that needs to be there, oil pressure could be low enough for vtec not to work but not so low that it kicks a light.

Re: (1RMDave)
to check and see if your solenoid is working just apply 12v to the solenoid and you should hear it clicking. if everything is good and you are sure of it then you might have a problem with the head. is this head for lsvtec or for gs? was this head running on your car before? if you plug the oil hole on the bottom of the head and put it back on a gsr block, then vtec is not gonna work. if you are doing ls vtec make sure you are running the external oil line
